Design belongs where the problem is.

For a decade I rescued and ran institutional websites. I moved organizations from hand-coded pages to content management systems, then through the social media era.

As the web lead, I also ran marketing and strategic communications. I wrote code, trained staff, managed vendors, and kept public systems working.

My design practice grew out of the web and expanded into research, service design, content, product, and communications. I later took responsibility for organizational design and executive advisory.

I wrote hiring standards, rebuilt job descriptions, ran performance reviews, and decided who staffed each engagement. I managed managers and developed designers into their next roles.

I speak globally and teach Public Mechanics. I still prototype services, write software, facilitate working sessions, and debug the systems around the work.

The cheaper generating solutions gets, the scarcer understanding the problem becomes.

I study how services actually work. I trace where authority and judgment sit, how paperwork moves, where handoffs fail, and who absorbs the friction.

I apply that lens to forward-deployed design, trajectory management, agent experience, and public trust.

Offline, I am a longtime high school tennis coach who has won state titles and coach-of-the-year awards. I have served on several community nonprofit boards.

I have worked as a radio DJ and news anchor. I created sabermetrics for the Finnish sport of pesäpallo and invented a sport called Tennis Polo 22 years ago.
